How can I access my .scot email from a mobile phone or tablet?
Our email addresses are fully compatible with Apple, Android, BlackBerry and Windows phones and tablets, Apple, Windows and Linux laptops and desktops and most email apps including Thunderbird, Outlook and Apple Mail. You can also access your email, calendar, tasks and address book over a browser. Setting up your account on a device is extremely easy and takes just a minute or two, no technical skill is required and our Help documents will take you through it.
What about privacy?
Is it secure?
Our dedicated email servers are all based in the UK and use leading edge software which is maintained to the best industry standards. We go to great lengths to ensure we employ state of the art security measures throughout our systems such as end-to-end encryption. Whitelists, greylists, blacklists, anti-spam and other measures are used to make sure you don’t get bombarded by junk emails.
What am I not allowed to do?
At all times you must operate your email account in a way that is legal and not likely to cause harm to other users of the service, including us, nor to do anything that would damage the reputation of Scotland. You must not use it for any illegal activity whatsoever. We do not allow use of our email system for spamming, phishing, denial-of-service attacks or any other similar activity. If we detect illegal activity, we will report it to the police or other relevant authority. If you wish to use your address for sending bulk email, you must let us know in advance or you may have your account throttled by the system or terminated in extreme or repeated cases. We have special rates for bulk emailers as that is not included in our standard account.
Will my email address be universally accepted?
Although .scot email addresses are accepted by the vast majority of websites when signing up online for products or services, there are unfortunately some companies which haven’t updated their systems yet to handle new domains including .scot. In those instances you may have to use an alternative email address as a fall-back. If you do come across a company which doesn’t accept a .scot email address, please let us know so we can have a word with them.
